Youth in foster care participate in intensive writing workshops, where they craft stories that describe challenges they face and how they manage them. For teens in care, the stories show they are not alone, and provide positive role models. The stories help staff see the teens’ strengths and resilience. Youth Communication also provides story-based staff training to help adults better understand teens’ experiences with trauma, gender, foster parents, and other topics so that staff can provide more effective support. The Fund supports Represent magazine.
